A global ERP System implementation was expected to deliver important business benefits and enable digital and data driven solutions. At the same time it was impacting employees around the world, challenging established workflows and requiring both technical adaptation and a mindset shift. Success depended on empowering teams to embrace new tools and processes. Which in turn was crucial to enable the realization of ambitious business goals promised by the business case of the whole system implementation.

The project faced challenges in implementing SAP S/4HANA, a new globally harmonized ERP system, across 40,000 employees in 160 entities, requiring a tailored approach to ensure scalability across diverse functions and geographies. Helping employees understand the system’s benefits was key to engaging employees and driving adoption of new ways of working.
The project implemented a comprehensive strategy to ensure the successful adoption of the new system. This approach included designing customized learning journeys for end users, tailored to their specific roles and responsibilities, to facilitate understanding and proficiency in new processes. Interactive training sessions catered to various learning styles while upskilling local experts to deliver effective training.
A robust Training Asset Factory was developed, producing over 3,000 training assets with tight version control, localization, and translation to meet the diverse needs of a global audience. The initiative also focused on empowering local technical experts as trainers and engaging middle managers to foster a culture of learning, ensuring motivated participation and effective adoption. A combination of hybrid, interactive training methods and continuous support was provided to maintain consistent, high-quality training delivery worldwide.
This strategy was critical for managing resistance, building capabilities, and ensuring smooth global adoption of the new processes and tools.
